I grew up here, jamming to the Gin Blossoms and the Pistoleros outside of Long Wong’s on Mill long before I was old enough to walk through the door. The music of the Zubia brothers, Hans Olson, Dead Hot Workshop, and a few others helped give shape to what was and is Tempe Rock. The Musical Instrument Museum will be hosting the aptly titled “I am AZ Music: Arizona Singer-Songwriters in the Round” at 7 pm on April 23 with special musical guests Jesse Valenzuela, Hans Olson, Walt Richardson, as well as Mark and Lawrence Zubia.
