While there are a lot of festivals that were in the running for our “best,” the Sidepony Express Music Festival was the clear choice of the staff.
And while the other festivals may have had bigger names, greater attendance, more bands, etc., etc., etc., the one thing that sets this Festival apart from the others is the fact that it is held in Bisbee, Arizona.
The town is very small, and the venues are very close to each other. That means that one can go from show to show without missing a beat. Add to that, we saw bands hanging out together. Partying together. Playing together. And more partying together. It truly helps the music community come together and bond, if only for one weekend.
And of course, we’d be remiss if we didn’t mention Anamieke Quinn, the founder of the Festival and her partner and husband in crime, Michael Quinn.
