My name is Danielle Wood and I am an artist. My main medium in ceramics and I sculpt primarily in different types of porcelain clay.

How did you get your start?

I started working in clay at ASU. I was a painting and drawing major. I needed a 3D class and took ceramics with Jinsoo Song. I instantly loved the medium.

What inspires you?

The tactile quality of clay, natural forms, marine life, the interactive potential of installation work, and psychology.

What do you like about AZ?

The growing art opportunities and inclusiveness of the art community. It is very supportive here, the public art opportunities are also very appealing here and the sunsets.

Where can we see you(r) work?

Work is available through Facebook here. I see my work becoming more interactive, using slip casting techniques, adding further elements of technology, and inter-media with clay.

What would you like to accomplish before you die?

I would like to be a resident at Archie Bray or the Clay Studio in Philadelphia, be a full time professor, continue to grow artistically and exhibit my work. Traveling to Thailand or Australia would be amazing to get to see their marine life as well.

What is your mantra?

One mantra that stays with me is the creative process happens while working, so even when I am not inspired. I go to the studio and try to make something. It is a practice and a process. So, even making something small is progressing the artwork forward.
