Mohawk Photography Answers the YabYum Seven

1. Who are you and what do you do?

I’m Mo! My real name is Zachary but only my mother calls me that..  I earned the name Mo because of my hair, ya you guessed it: I have a Mohawk. My Mohawk has literally become my brand, I affectionately named my photography company after it.

2. How did you get your start?

Photography has always been in my life, my grandparents owned a portrait studio back in the early 80s and my mom was one of those “must document every moment of my childhood” moms..

It wasn’t until 2007 that I really started to become interested in it as more than just something that was just there, I started snapping a lot of shots and picked up my first DSLR.

 3. What inspires you?

A lot of my recent work is inspired by really bad B-horror flicks, I have quite a collection of them at home and love the scare/humor of them.

I’m also an avid people watcher and I think the emotional aspect of my work comes from that.

4. What do you like about AZ?

Well I moved here in 2005 from Chicago to go to school and quickly fell in love with the city/weather/people of the area. It’s a great place to have a home base and still be able to get almost anywhere west coast quickly.

5. Where can we see you(r) work?

I keep my Facebook page the most updated. I also pop up at gallery’s around town from time to time.

6. What would you like to accomplish before you die?

Not to sound like I’m running for Miss America but I would love to be apart of something that changes the world for the better.. Or be the sole reason for total world anarchy.

7. What is your mantra?

“Ya I’m fucking weird.”

I’ve always been a weirdo, I’ve learned to embrace all my quirks and understand that they make me unique!
