All you Valley rock hounds better clear your weekend schedules. The Gem and Jam Music Festival is happening in Tucson this weekend in conjunction with the final weekend of the Tucson Gem, Mineral, and Fossil Show, an event that draws international attention annually.
This year marks ten years of the Gem and Jam Music Festival and this year’s lineup boasts more than 50 artists on three stages (all named for gems and minerals, of course) in addition to visual artists, gem and mineral exhibitions, performers, and workshops. Additionally, the Festival has teamed up with Soulection, a record collective out of Los Angeles. Soulection will be curating a special collection of performers for the “ONYX” stage to offer a sampling of the “Sounds of Tomorrow”.
The event organizers promise something for everyone including “bass and dance heavy hitters like Beats Antique, The Polish Ambassador, Tycho, and Michal Menert, funky organic favorites like Lettuce and Nakho and Medicine for the People, as well as a virtual ‘who’s who’ of emerging electronic music acts.” Local performers include Cadillac Mountain, Mik & Scott, Kelli and the Big Dream, Jyshua Pcalyps, Buck-O, and more!
The festival takes place in the heart of Tucson and is an all-encompassing event. Music starts in the afternoon and runs late (until 1:30am) and even offers after-hours options for festival-goers both on-site and at the nearby Solar Culture. On-site camping is available so bring a tent and make a weekend of it!
