1. Who are you and what do you do?
I’m Lori Fenn and I’m an artist, I paint bright geometric acrylic paintings and layer in candy like resin.
2. How did you get your start?
I grew up making things from food to clothes to art and teepees. I really became interested in painting when i was 15… I would hide out in my room and paint everything…flowers, animals, portraits, Wonder Woman….just trying to find my style. Within the last 5 years i have definitely progressed more and have found my way to interpret what inspires me.
3. What inspires you?
My paintings to me are more about color than anything else. That’s what speaks to me. Everything else falls into place after that. I’m greatly inspired by nature in both color and form…dreams both lucid and deep help me create concepts and meditation creates the quiet space to let it all come to the surface.
4. What do you like about AZ?
I love to hike so the fact that i can walk in any direction and climb a mountain is convenient. It is a good place to work and travel from. The desert definitely has a quiet magic to it that isn’t easily found in other places.
5. Where can we see you(r) work?
I’m in the process of creating on a new print series of digital work. When I’m not working in the studio, I’m causing trouble and going on adventures with my partner, Pete Deise, who is a sculptor. My website is where all of my work both past and present is kept up to date.
6. What would you like to accomplish before you die?
I would love to see this world in its entirety…my top places to see would be Iceland, Norway and Myanmar. I’m working on creating a life that allows me and my family to enjoy our home base and then venture out to explore the rest of this life, then bring that inspiration back and create from it.
7. What is your mantra?
NOW…both in being mentally present and reflecting in my actions. I’m not always able or willing to follow that word but it runs through my mind daily.
